Random Adult was born from a simple gift of a domain of the same name. A buddy of mine pointed out that my digitalchild blog was close to 10 years old. I thought, its a new decade time for a rebrand. I was trying to think of what I could use the domain for and decided to use it for an update of the old blog. The new brand is closer to what I’ve been doing recently which is random at times.

I have used my digitalchild brand for over 15 years. It’s been the face of my blog, random nickname, DJ name and more. All good things must come to an end, so I’m retiring the brand. I’ll be keeping whatever references up I still have, but any new projects will be using Random Adult.

What’s the goal for Random Adult?

I set an ambitious goal for myself this year which is to write every day for a month. I’m 20 days in and so far I’ve managed to write at least 600 words every single day. Some days its been challenging, others its come very easily to me. I’m wanting to share more of my cooking and eating adventures as well as some of my travel adventures. I have a huge backlog of ideas that I want to get out and share.

The main goal for RA moving forward is to share my food, experiences and other random things with you. That includes the huge backlog of video and images that I have. I’d like to dig through and share some of the best. Maybe even a coffee table photo book!

I’m looking to focus more on content-based projects this year and ahead. That includes this site and others that I run such as my Off-Grid Build site and one of my companies WC Vendors.

Random Adult Youtube Channel

On top of focusing on writing and creating I’m also attempting to make and maintain a youtube channel. To begin with I’m going to keep it simple. Focusing on food reviews that I eat all over the place. The other half of the channel will be focused on cooking stuff. You can check out the channel now and see a couple of my food reviews and the first cooking episode.

Cooking

For those of you who know me, you know I love to cook. I’m always looking for new challenges for cooking. New cool tools to use in my kitchen, which ill be writing about later. I’m going to have a bit of a vegetarian and vegan focus on my recipes this year as I want to focus on my health and well being while still eating well. I enjoy the challenge of vegetarian and vegan cooking.

Here in Vietnam I can’t just go down the store and buy an Impossible burger or Sanitarium meat replacements. All I have is mushrooms and TVP, so it’s time to get creative! I’ll still be doing some animal-based recipes but there will be a heavy slant on healthy, plant-based eating.

Eating

About 6 months ago I started sending close friends short videos of me eating random stuff. They encouraged me to start the youtube channel and I have a few videos that I’ll be working on and continue to work. The videos will focus on foods that I find that are interesting, I eat all the time or just eating. There are a lot of people out there that won’t eat something, I don’t have that hesitation. I’ll eat whatever I can find. Although I’ll be focusing on more plant-based foods this year, I’ll still find some time to eat the far-out foods too.

Moving on

Here’s to a healthy start to a new decade creating new content in new formats for whoever is watching and reading. I’m really wanting to explore more of my creative side. This will be in the form of writing, video and even picking up the pencil and drawing again. If you’ve got anything you want me to write about, let me know.
